Are you thinking about buying some led grow lights but do not know which kind to buy or if they work or not? There are many great LEDs out there on the market these days and today we are going to be talking a little bit about if they actually stack up against other grow lights and some of the top LED lights out there, and of course we will be answering the question Do LED grow lights work ?
The first thing that we need to go over is whether or not these types of grow lights actually work or not. Well the answer is YES LED growing lights work to grow plants indoors. Here is proof. this is a small grow box that I built along with some plain LED Christmas lights wrapped up using a rubber band. I have started my plants using this exact setup, I even use it to grow my herbs in.

One of the huge benefits of LEDs is that they consume less than half of that of other types of grow lights such as metal halides or HPS lamps. Another thing that makes these grow lights better alternatives to HID lights is that they run anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 hours as compared to others that run for only 18,000 or 30,000. The next thing that makes LED lights good alternatives or additions to your growing operation is the heat factor or lack thereof I guess you would say because there is little heat generated by LEDs. So I guess to answer the question yes the LED grow light does indeed work and it does work well indeed.
Now that we have established that these lights work it is now time to check out some of the different LEDs that are out there on the market.
The first one that we are going to be talking about is the:
UFO LED Grow Light- Range from $499 and up
This grow light is said to one of the best things to hit the grow light market in a very long time, some of the reasons that this is being said is because it only draws 80 watts and puts out the light that a 400 watt high powered sodium setup could do, all the while putting off almost no heat which equals being closer to the plant which means faster growth and more photosynthesis.
Supernova LED Grow Lights- Range from $700 and up
These LEDs put out more light intensity than a 1,000 HID system does. One setup is capable of lighting a five foot by five foot area. These lights put out three times the amount of light of regular LED grow lights; they are also set up so that you can point them in various directions with different colors.
Penetrator LED Grow Lights- Range from $275 and up
These LED indoor grow lights claim to use a 60 degree setup instead of the normal 120 degree setup which makes for more focused and better absorbed light. Also these LEDs are supposed to more accurately cover a coverage area due to the more focused light.
